What kind of church is First Baptist Dover?
Our hope is to be a friendly and loving church.  But even more than that, we desire to be a church made up of friends who love God, love others, and serve their world together.  Every Sunday, we meet in a large assembly to worship and in smaller groups for Bible study.  Our worship is a blended style, mixing great hymns of the faith with  praise songs.  Our Sunday School offers a place for everyone, from babies to senior adults, so you can connect with others at a similar stage of life.  We offer activities and programs for each member of the family on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.  Come discover what there is for you!

How long has this church been in the area?
First Baptist Dover began over 100 years ago.  However, in June 2011 a brand new, beautiful sanctuary and education space was opened for ministry.  The buildings share similarities with the people, the true church.  FBC Dover offers the stability, wisdom, and traditions of years gone by, as well as the fresh excitement and faith of the next generation.  Our church has a good name in the community, as we have ministered to many families through our children & youth programs, Meals on Wheels, and FAITH outreach teams.

What does First Baptist Dover Believe?
We believe that there is one God who is so mighty that He created the entire universe, yet so personal that He desires to have an intimate relationship with you.  He does this through His son, Jesus Christ, who offers an abundant life on earth and an eternal life in heaven to everyone who follows Him with all of their heart.  We are Southern Baptist by denomination.  What does that mean?  In a nutshell, we believe that the Bible is God’s Word; it is without error and still applies to us thousands of years after it was written.  It is God’s love letter to us.  We also believe in the mission of helping everyone know the Good News of Jesus, whether that is our neighbor next door, our community in Hillsborough County, or people groups at the very ends of the earth.

Where does the funding come from?
First Baptist Dover is completely funded by the voluntary donations of its members. Several hundred people have been touched by this ministry and give to support the programs and  ministries throughout the city of Dover.

Who is the pastor?

DR. ROB JACKSON SENIOR PASTOR
My life’s purpose, given to me by the Lord as a teenager, is to fulfill my part of the Great Commission (Matt. 28), by living the Great Commandment (Matt. 22). I was saved as a youth in my mom’s good news club in a little mountain community of 300 people in New Mexico. I was called by God as a teen at a Christian camp to serve HIM in ministry. I met my best friend and wonderful wife, Tami, at Life Action Ministries as a young adult. This wonderful family-centered revival team where we were privileged to serve for two years together, was used by God to light a fire for revival in the depths of our souls that has only intensified over the years. God has abundantly blessed us with 4 wonderful children, three which are adults and our “surprise” teenage, beautiful, lover of Jesus who has kept us young. I am so thankful that God has called my family and I to minister to and with this very special local body of Christ, FIRST BAPTIST DOVER. We believe the church is made up of people who have been saved by grace, through faith in Christ alone, and through this multi-generational body of Jesus (Titus 2) we are called and privileged to accomplish the mission of making disciples of all people groups. We have been blessed beyond words to spend our lives serving out of a local church, going into our neighborhood, our region, our nation, and our world on this God-mission of world evangelization and discipleship. Tami and I believe that we were put here on earth to equip God’s people to become fully committed followers of Christ, building strong Biblical marriages and families. We have been honored and blessed to do family and marriage ministry for over three decades throughout the world. I have made my living doing what my Lord called me to do anyway… and to me that is quite amazing, still realizing that the best is yet to come!!
