What Is A Church?

In Webster's dictionary, "Church" is defined as "a building set apart for public worship"; scripture tells us that the Church is the "body of believers", or a group of individuals unified in worship. At Dover we believe that it is both of those things... and more.

We certainly have the building and it is set apart for worship! It is filled to the brim with songs of praise, prayer and the joyful laughter of family and friends.

It is a place of refuge for the hurting; a place of solace and an end to those who are searching; a place of instructions to those who seek to know God better; and a place of renewed life to those who have found grace through our Savior, Jesus Christ; but still, it is more than that.

One of the best parts of what we do at First Baptist Church of Dover is what we are doing in the present - meeting needs, listening, praying, encouraging, teaching, helping one another to know and experience God - to assist one another in just making it on a day to day basis, and to enter our fellowship.

We are excited about the work that God is doing in our lives and in our Church, and we want to share not only our excitement, but our faith, with YOU!
